Assignment: Implementation and customization of Expedition system and integration with legacy system.
Project Notes: The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) is one of the largest financiers and builders of public-purpose facilities in the United States. As a governmental agency, DASNY faces more complex and inflexible requirements than do private companies. Since such agencies deal with public bonds, SEC auditing requirements are demanding and accuracy of financial data is critical. This means the layering of organizational rules must go beyond the native capabilities of individual applications. To meet this challenge, MTG developed a customized, Enterprise Application Integration using MTG Frameworks®. The manual project initiation process was replaced with an automated, efficient process based on the principle of "Touch the Data Once." Today, when a project is entered into the JD Edwards ERP system, MTG Frameworks® handles the integration to Primavera Contract Manager and P6. Projects are automatically created in the appropriate systems. Budgets, cost codes, contacts, activities, and baseline data are instantly populated. When the project initiation integration process is complete, the project is ready to be transferred to the Project Manager.
Results: DASNY's integration investment streamlined project management, reduced accounting processing time and effort, improved communication between finance and construction, and reduced overall project costs. The inherent flexibility of MTG Frameworks® also allowed DASNY staff to further integrate an internally developed project information database, plus a quality assurance application.
"MTG helped us cut project costs and net project initiation times, while reducing the overall burden on our IT staff. The adaptability of the MTG Frameworks Solution Set also allowed us to seamlessly integrate proprietary apps on our own, which further improved overall project management efficiency."
